Why Character Education Comes First
It is easy to assume that a child who is not performing well at school is lazy, or that a child who acts out simply does not listen. Laura Lam's experience working with hundreds of children over more than 20 years points to something different.

The 12 character qualities at the centre of this programme are:
-
Academic support: diligence, responsibility, patience, and discipline
-
Emotional and social: joy, courtesy, kindness, respect, civic mindedness, filial piety, honesty, and love
Course Objectives
To cultivate children to possess and practice 12 character qualities, diligence, responsibility, patience, discipline, joy, courtesy, kindness, respect, civic-mindedness, filial piety, honesty, and love; So that they can develop a conscientious learning attitude, maintain a positive emotional state, and exhibit good behavior, thereby becoming good students, good children, and good citizens.
Foundation Certificate Course
The Foundation course covers all 12 character qualities in a personalised, one on one setting. Laura tailors each session to the child's individual personality and needs, drawing on a rich set of teaching materials including the Smart Moral Mascots handbooks, illustrated character models, songs, stories, drama, posters, bookmarks, and activity cards.
Ambassador Certificate Course
The Ambassador course is open to children who have completed the Foundation level. It takes the learning from abstract understanding into real world practice, with a 21 day challenge at its core.
ā
The course unfolds in three stages:
Hour 1: Laura meets with the child and parents to design a personalised daily character practice plan.
The 21 day challenge: The child takes on the role of a Smart Moral Mascots Ambassador. Over 21 days, with parents witnessing and encouraging, they practise their chosen character qualities daily and create five character education gifts or tools for five different people, including family members, classmates, or friends.
Hours 2 and 3: Laura evaluates the child's 21 days of practice and the items they have created, and holds a deeper discussion to consolidate the learning. Children who pass the assessment receive the Smart Moral Mascots Advanced Ambassador Certificate.
